MAG IS IN
The exhibition aims to present the most interesting, independent and

universe of each magazine. The exhibition is curated by Francesca Oddenino

are working on their thesis, a final research and design project about the

MILLENIUM PUBLICATIONS
This survey of experimental art and design magazines published since 2000
explores the various ways in which contemporary artsists and designers
utilize the magazine format as an experimental space for the presentation
of artworks and text. Throughout the 20th century, international
avant-garde activities in the visual arts and design were often codified
first in the informal context of a magazine or journal. This exhibition,
drawn from the holdings of the MoMA library, follows the practice into the
21st century. Assembled together, these contemporary magazines provide a
first-hand view into these practices and represent the MoMA library's
sustained effort to document and collect this medium.

IN PRINT
In an economic climate marked by the demise of the publishing house and
bookstore, artists, writers and designers are self-producing low-budget
editions of experimantal publications and distributing them through there
personal networks. "In Print" looks at a repesentative selection of these
alternative approaches to the printed page. GAGARIN was selected to take
part in the curated selection of international publications. Three
Cairo-based, conceptually diverse DIY initiatives: Zine El-Arab, TokTok and
Cairobserver are also invited. Each of these uncensored, Arabic-language
projects will work on their publication in the gallery space. Throug
interactions and discussions, "In Print" hopes to create a platform for the
further development of an independant, artist-driven publishing scene in
Cairo.
